THE THERAFIRM ADVANTAGE
CREDIBILITY
For over 60 years, Therafirm has been a leader in manufacturing healthy, gradient compression products. Knit-Rite purchased Therafirm in 2000 and has re-invented the brand and product with updated colors, new styles and high quality standards.
INNOVATION
Therafirm has evolved under new ownership through innovation, adding four new lines of product since 2000 including Core-Spun, Core-Sport, Ease, TheraSport, TherafirmLight, Preggers, and GOGO. With our roots in the medical field, all products are developed with consumer's health top of mind. Some products claiming to offer "compression" are not true gradient compression products and may contain little to no compression or actually offer reverse compression. Therafirm's unique ability to combine healthy, true gradient compression with the most up-to-date technologies available results in superior, quality compression garments.
QUALITY
Therafirm products are quality inspected, ensuring superior, true gradient compression garments. Products endure constant evaluation and adjustment to meet quality standards and customers' needs. Therafirm has a certified quality system, receiving ISO 13485 certification.
GREAT FOR TRAVEL
Sitting for long periods of time can reduce blood flow to the legs and feet. Therafirm 15–20mmHg gradient compression socks and hosiery are designed to help prevent edema, leg discomfort, and deep vein thrombosis for long distance travelers.
FASHIONABLE COMPRESSION
We offer our products in a variety of styles and yarn types—including opaque, sheer, and microfiber—as well as knit pattern texture options. Color options include fashionable neutral colors for any look.
COMFORTABLE COOLNESS
Moisture-wicking yarns wick moisture away from the skin to the exterior of the sock, moving moisture up and out of the foot area, which provides a more comfortable coolness.
MADE IN USA
Therafirm products are proudly made in the USA in our own manufacturing facility in Hamlet, NC with corporate headquarters in Kansas City, KS.
SEAMLESS TECHNOLOGY
HANDLINKED SEAM SOCKS
This seam is created by linking together both sides of the sock to fuse together the toe of the sock. Though the seam is as flat as possible, you can still see and feel the seam line on the toe.
SMOOTH, FLAT SEAM SOCKS
This seam is also created by linking together both sides of the sock to fuse together the toe of the sock. It is very faint, but you can still make out the seam line, especially when it is turned inside out.
SMARTKNIT® SEAMLESS SOCKS
Notice there is no irritating seam anywhere in the toe of the sock. When the sock is turned inside out, it is still easy to see that SmartKnit® socks are truly seamless.
TRULY SEAMLESS SOCKS—THEY DO EXIST!
SmartKnit® Seamless Socks are made using a knitting process much like how a cocoon is spun—starting at one point and spinning upwards, thus completely eliminating irritating seams. True SmartKnit® pros know about the amazing differences between our seamless socks and other socks that claim to be seamless. As diabetic, arthritic, and seam-sensitive children and adults know, they are definitely not all alike.
MOISTURE CONTROL
SmartKnit® Seamless Socks are made with the best fiber/technologies available. The treated polyester and Ionic+™ silver fibers wick the moisture away resulting in a sock that effectively controls moisture, provides a more hygienic sock environment, and helps reduce friction. Both socks are odor resistant.
REDUCES RISKS FROM WRINKLING AND BUNCHING
One size does not fit all. Socks that do not properly fit the feet can wrinkle or bunch inside the shoe. SmartKnit® Seamless Socks knitting process uses high-stretch Core-Spun yarns that "hug" your feet for maximum protection. SmartKnit® socks are not bulky to assure adequate room in the shoe.
NON-BINDING
SmartKnit® Seamless Socks feature a non-binding Halo Top™ that fits comfortably, minimizing indentations. SmartKnit® socks' core-spun yarns stretch to allow blood flow while not slipping down the leg.
MADE IN THE USA
SmartKnit® products are proudly made in the USA in our own manufacturing facility in Kansas City, Kansas. SmartKnit® is a brand of Knit-Rite, LLC.
IONIC+™ MINERAL ANTIMICROBIAL FABRIC
Long known to kill germs, silver is finally finding its way into medical textiles.
Ionic+™ Mineral Antimicrobial Fabric technology bonds a layer of pure silver to the surface of a textile fiber, permanently retaining the best characteristics of both and inhibiting odor before it even gets started.
Garments made with Ionic+™ receive rave reviews and are widely used in medicine, the US military, NASA, and over 60 Olympic teams.
Benefits of Ionic+™ products include:
- Natural reduction of foot odor
- Wicks away perspiration and keeps skin dry
- Inhibts bacterial and microbial growth
- Maintains temperature equilibrium

HOW TO MEASURE FOR GRADIENT COMPRESSION
Patients should be measured when they first get up in the morning. This helps prevent the fitter from measuring based upon the affected area’s circumference after swelling has occurred. Measure the patient while he or she is standing. If the fitting can not take place before the patient has been on his/her feet for some time, the patient’s legs and feet should be elevated for 15 minutes prior to taking the measurements.
ON EACH PRODUCT PAGE...
Click the size chart on each product page to see the measurements for that specific product.
TIPS FOR GETTING THE PERFECT FIT
- Take snug measurements against the skin.
- Avoid measuring over socks or slacks.
- Never allow folds in stockings.
- Never remove any wound dressings.
- Stockings should not be too tight over dressings.
- Socks must fit the shape of the foot.
- Socks should have even compression or elasticity so that the sock takes on the anatomical shape of the foot without high compression
(binding points) that may create discomfort or circulation obstruction. - Observe the bare foot prior to donning the sock.
- After donning the sock, the foot shape should be consistent with that of the bare foot.
HOW TO MEASURE FOR SMARTKNITKIDS SEAMLESS SOCKS
SmartKnitKIDS Socks are unique because they don't have a heel. Without a heel, a sock can fit on many different foot sizes. This is one of the great features about SmartKnitKIDS Socks, but it can make finding your child's size a little confusing.
STEP 1:
Find your child’s shoe size in left column on the size chart below.
STEP 2:
Choose your child's desired sock length/style along top.
STEP 3:
Find the correct sock size according to the chart.
HOW TO MEASURE FOR SMARTKNITKIDS SEAMLESS COMPRESSO-Ts
The important thing to remember is that Compresso-T is supposed to be a little tight. It's that tight hug that makes it so comforting.
That said, it's important to size it right. Follow these steps or watch the video below to find the right fit.
STEP 1: MEASURE AROUND THE FULLEST PART OF THE CHEST
Arms should be relaxed and tape should be parallel to the floor and not too tight.
STEP 2: REFERENCE OUR SIZE CHART
Your child's chest circumference in inches will correspond to the size chart.
STEP 3: FIND THE IDEAL FIT
You should be able to put a hand between your kid's body and Compresso-T and pull your hand away a little bit. The length of Compresso-T should reach your child's hip bone.
PUTTING ON YOUR COMPRESSION
PUTTING ON YOUR COMPRESSION
For many men and women that have never worn compression hosiery, putting on your new stockings can be difficult. Compression hosiery has more resistance or compression than traditional pantyhose hose or stockings. Because they fit more snug, they are a little more difficult to put on. Below are a few tips to help you don, or put on, compression stockings.
- Insert hand and grab stocking at top of heel pocket.
- While still holding heel pocket, turn top of stocking down towards toe.
- Open stocking and slide foot in until toe and heel are positioned in place.
- For Knee-highs: Grasp top of stocking and pull up over ankle and calf. Position tops approximately 1" below bend of knee.
For Pantyhose and Tights: With crotch in a snug, comfortable position, stretch panty hose with both hands. Adjust waist band to preferred position either folded under the belly or pulled up and over the belly.
ONCE THE GARMENT IS ON, CHECK FOR THE FOLLOWING:
- The foot portion must fit the shape of the foot. The stockings should have even compression or elasticity so that the sock takes on the anatomical shape of the foot without high compression (binding points) that may create discomfort or circulation obstruction. Observe the bare foot prior to donning once side. After putting on the stocking, the foot shape should be consistent with that of the bare foot.
- Knee highs and trouser socks should go all the way up your calf and stop just below the bend in your knee. If your knee highs or trouser socks are too long, please do not fold them over! This could possibly create reverse compression and it negates all the healthful benefits that compression provides. If you find that your knee highs or trouser socks are too long, please contact us so we can help you find a product that will work better for you!
- For footless garments, the bottom of garment should be placed at the ankle bone or the skinniest part of the ankle.
- If pain, discomfort, or areas of binding occur, the stockings should be removed.
- Always consult with your physician before wearing gradient compression garments.
